From the Inside Out

This summer I am thrilled to be part of an exhibit at Jacoby Art Center with four other fiber artist that work with natural dyes and processes.  The show is titled “From the Inside Out”.  My contribution to the show will be part of a series that I have started called ‘Core’.  This work is in process and I have a feeling it will bring about a new set of techniques and concepts for me to explore in the years to come.

For the last 13 years I have been exploring rust and developing my own techniques and concepts that revolve around rusting , plants, and silks.  This has touched my soul and compelled me to share that beauty with whoever cares.  During that time I have mainly used rust printing as a kind of zen process to speak of stillness and balance.  I gravitate heavily towards circles and the organic shapes.  This has not changed much in my current work but, now I am fully obsessed with the manipulation of colors and how I can mimic nature in its macro and micro forms.

This brings me to the Core; a slice of earth that breathes and moves in our hearts and before our eyes.  If you can see the core and know of its beauty how can you ever turn away?  From the center energy radiates out and feeds the universal consciousness.  From  pressure, heat and time color and energy is born.   I know this is may seem heavy but I just wanted to share some of my thought with you.

I also want to share some inspirations and images of works in progress.
