Spring has bloomed before my eyes. The air smells thick of daphne and hyacinth. Who can complain about that? Maybe those with allergies and those who are still dealing with snow. Well take some nettles and wait for the snow to melt.
I recently installed a show at a gallery in downtown Portland called Peoples Art of Portland. This show features 4 abstract artists and the theme of Narration. The artists are Kelly Williams (encaustics), Fred Swan (watercolor and mixed media), Raithon Clay (mixed media), and Me – Rio Wrenn (textiles, mixed media). If you are in Portland you should make a trip downtown to see the show. It will be up until April 14.
Narrative
As I seek to understand the ways of the world and the energy within I tumble like a magnet, attracting what I need and will. Swimming through the calm Waters that heal and sooth, carefully allowing my Fire to burn. within me Inside
My mind Intersects years of debris, memories and lessons. Thrust your voice, Be heard!
-Rio Wrenn
I have been working on new techniques with my textiles and mainly this consists of resisting the dye. I am happy with the results which I must admit appear simple at a glance.
Here are samples of the other artists work that I am sharing the space with.
